Reviews were mixed to positive, praising its aesthetic and old-school atmosphere while questioning its combat and graphical readability.

  • Sky Racket

Brazilian independent developer Double Dash Studios released it for Windows, macOS and Linux in October 2019.

  • Slay the Spire

    Slay the Spire is a roguelike deckbuilder in which one of four characters climbs a procedurally generated tower, fighting enemies and bosses along the way. Combat is driven by cards, and new cards won from battles let players shape a deck strong enough to reach the top. It was made by Mega Crit, an independent American studio, on libGDX, released fully in January 2019, and is credited with popularising the genre.

  • Slay the Spire 2

Swedish studio Frictional Games developed and published it in 2015 using its HPL Engine, and it holds a Metacritic score of 84.

Weapons and pickups add chaos, and matches can be played locally or online. It was developed by Dutch studio DoubleDutch Games on Microsoft XNA, published by tinyBuild, and fully released in 2016 after early access; the Electronic Sports League recognised it as an esport in 2015.

  • Sportsfriends

    Sportsfriends is a party game compilation from Die Gute Fabrik, an independent developer collective in Denmark, bundling four titles: Hokra, BaraBariBall, Super Pole Riders and Johann Sebastian Joust. That last one needs no screen at all, as players try to keep their PlayStation Move controller steady while jostling rivals' controllers. Super Pole Riders is a pole-vaulting game by Bennett Foddy, and the project raised more than US$150,000 on Kickstarter.

    Stasis is a science fiction horror adventure played point-and-click style from an isometric viewpoint, built around using computers, combining items and solving puzzles. John Maracheck wakes from stasis aboard the abandoned spaceship Groomlake and must search for his missing wife and daughter as the ship sinks deeper into Neptune's methane clouds. It was developed by the South African studio The Brotherhood with the Visionaire Studio engine and released in August 2015.

  • Super Hexagon

    Super Hexagon is an action game by independent developer Terry Cavanagh, with a soundtrack by Chipzel. It grew out of Hexagon, a prototype Cavanagh made in early 2012 for a game jam lasting twelve hours. The game launched on iOS that September, with Windows and macOS versions arriving three months later. Cavanagh is from Ireland, and the original was built with Adobe Flash tools. It holds a Metacritic score of 88 on its store page.
