VA-11 Hall-A is a cyberpunk visual novel in which the player works behind the counter of a small bar in a bleak city. Instead of choosing dialogue, you mix and serve cocktails, and those orders shape where the nonlinear story goes as regulars share their lives. It was made by Sukeban Games from Venezuela in GameMaker and released in 2016. The project grew out of an entry for a 2014 cyberpunk game jam, and its look draws on PC-98 era games and anime.
Valhalla Hills is a city-building strategy game in which you guide a tribe of Vikings as they build up and sustain a settlement. Each map ends with the goal of reaching a portal at the top of a mountain that leads to Valhalla. Funatics Software, a studio in Germany, developed it in Unreal Engine 4, and Daedalic Entertainment published it in 2015. Two expansions, Sand of the Damned and Fire Mountains, later added new locations and enemies.
Valthirian Arc: Hero School Story mixes a management sim with role-playing, putting you in charge of a school that trains adventurers. As students progress, they are sent out on quests, linking the running of the academy to RPG-style adventuring. The game was developed by Agate, a studio in Indonesia, and published by PQube, with its Steam release in 2018. Steam lists it under action, strategy, simulation and RPG.
Vambrace: Cold Soul is a dark fantasy roguelike RPG in which Evelia Lyric, bearer of a mysterious magical vambrace, leads expeditions into Icenaire, a haunted city buried beneath ice. Between runs players return to the safe district of Dalearch to craft gear and assemble parties of procedurally generated adventurers. Exploration happens in real time while fights are turn-based, and every trip wears down the group. South Korean studio Devespresso Games released it in 2019.

This roguelike deckbuilder spinoff was co-developed by UK developers poncle and Nosebleed Interactive, with poncle publishing. It takes the action roguelike formula of Vampire Survivors and reshapes it around building a deck of cards. It released on Steam in April 2026 for Windows and macOS, and its Steam store tags pair action with strategy.
Vampire Survivors is a roguelike shoot 'em up from poncle, the studio name of UK-based developer Luca Galante, which launched fully in 2022 after an early access period. Your character attacks automatically while you steer through endless waves of monsters, trying to last as long as possible and unlock new characters, weapons and relics for later runs. Widely seen as an early example of the bullet heaven genre, it won two British Academy Games Awards, for Game Design and Best Game.
Vaporum is a grid-based dungeon crawler from Fatbot Games, a studio in Slovakia, released in 2017 and modeled on old-school entries in the genre. It is set in an original steampunk world, where the hero finds himself stranded before a colossal tower rising from the middle of an ocean. Exploring the tower means uncovering what the place is, what happened inside it and who the protagonist really is.
Verdun is an online first-person shooter built around squads and set in the First World War and inspired by the 1916 battle of the same name. Teams fight over trench lines in attack and defence rounds, using period weapons, uniforms and maps modelled on real Western Front battlefields. Built in Unity by independent studios M2H and the Netherlands-based BlackMill Games, it left Steam Early Access in April 2015 and later reached consoles.
Victor Vran is an isometric action role-playing game where player skill matters as much as gear and builds, with dodging, jumping and ability use at the center of combat. Its world blends gothic fantasy and fairy-tale elements, with room for both magic and science. Bulgarian indie developer Haemimont Games released it in July 2015, with EuroVideo Medien publishing it on Steam; later ports reached consoles.
Viewfinder is a puzzle game from UK developer Sad Owl Studios, published by Thunderful Publishing. It debuted on Windows and PlayStation 5 in July 2023, with later releases on PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S and Nintendo Switch through 2025. VirtuaVerse is a point-and-click adventure set in a future world with cyberpunk and science fiction themes. It was developed by Theta Division, a studio in Italy, and published by Blood Music. The game came out on May 12, 2020 on Steam and GOG for Windows and Mac, with versions for Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One following in October 2021. It holds a Metacritic score of 75.
Viscera Cleanup Detail is a science fiction simulation that hands players the grim job of mopping up after disasters such as repelled alien invasions and zombie outbreaks. The work is all about clearing away the bloody mess left behind once the fighting is over. It was developed and published by RuneStorm, an indie studio based in South Africa, using Unreal Engine 3, and it entered Steam Early Access in April 2014 before fully releasing in October 2015.
Released in 2023, Void Stranger is a sokoban-style puzzle game from System Erasure, an independent developer in Finland made up of Eero Lahtinen and Antti Ukkola. Players guide a character toward the bottom of a labyrinth, solving block-pushing puzzles to advance, while layered secrets and shifting mechanics gradually transform how it plays. It is known for its difficulty and intricate story, and it followed the pair's first game, ZeroRanger.
VoidExpanse is a science-fiction space game from AtomicTorch Studio, a developer based in Singapore, released in 2015 for Windows, Mac and Linux. Players pilot a ship through a large universe, mining asteroids, trading, taking on missions and upgrading both their vessel and their character. Fast combat against hostile aliens and mercenaries is part of the loop, and the game draws on RPG, simulation and strategy elements.
Voltaire: The Vegan Vampire follows the youngest son of Dracula, who turns his back on the family tradition to grow plants instead. By day players look after an eerie farm, and by night they protect those crops from waves of enemies in roguelite action, unlocking new abilities and many plant varieties along the way. It was developed by Digitality Games of Portugal, published by indie.io, and released for Windows in 2023.
VVVVVV is a puzzle platformer where you cannot jump; instead you flip gravity so Captain Viridian falls up or down. You guide the captain through over 400 rooms to find a crew scattered by a teleporter accident, and the game also supports levels made by players. It was created by Terry Cavanagh from Ireland, first built in Adobe Flash and released in 2010, and a later C++ port helped it reach many more platforms.
Inquisitor – Martyr is an action RPG set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe that Games Workshop created for its wargaming franchise. Players take on the role of agents of the Inquisition, choosing between several classes and fighting in real time through the Chaos-corrupted Caligari Sector. Hungarian studio NeocoreGames both developed and published it, releasing the Windows version in June 2018, and it holds a Metacritic score of 67.
Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader is a story-driven isometric role-playing game set in the grim Warhammer 40,000 universe. It follows the classic computer RPG model, with an emphasis on narrative, and was made in close partnership with Games Workshop. Owlcat Games, based in Russia, developed and published it in December 2023 for Windows and macOS as well as consoles, and several expansions have followed.
Wartales is a tactical role-playing game from Shiro Games, a studio based in France. Players lead a band of mercenaries trying to stay alive in a low-fantasy setting still recovering from a plague, combining tactical fights with the upkeep of the company. Its genre tags also point to survival and adventure elements. The game was released in 2023 on Windows, with Switch and Xbox Series versions as well.
We Are The Dwarves is a real-time tactics game in which the player commands a trio of dwarves travelling through space on a mission to rescue their home world. Battles unfold continuously rather than in turns as the player directs the three heroes. It was made and self-published by Whale Rock Games, a studio based in Kyiv, Ukraine, and came out in 2016 for Windows, Mac and Linux, with Steam tagging it under action, RPG and strategy.
Weaving Tides is a puzzle adventure game with action elements, listed under action and adventure genres on Steam. It was developed and self-published by Follow the Feathers, an independent developer from Austria. The game launched on May 27, 2021 for Windows and macOS, and was also released on Nintendo Switch on the same day.
Webbed is a physics-driven puzzle platformer starring a peacock spider on a mission to rescue her boyfriend after a bowerbird snatches him away. Players spin webs to swing across gaps, build bridges and drag objects around, getting help from other bugs along the way in a fantasy take on Queensland. It was made by Sbug Games, a studio based in Brisbane, Australia, and released in September 2021 after an earlier prototype appeared on itch.io.
WEBFISHING is a multiplayer fishing game built around chatting with other players. Everyone plays as an animal character wandering a shared 3D space, landing fish that can be sold or turned in for quests to earn cash, which then goes toward better fishing gear and cosmetic items for the avatar. It was made by lamedeveloper, a solo indie developer in the United States, first shared on itch.io in 2022 and then remade for Steam in October 2024.
What Remains of Edith Finch is a first-person exploration game about seventeen-year-old Edith returning to her family's old house after seven years away. Wandering its rooms, she pieces together a string of deaths that brought down the family, each told as a separate vignette from a different perspective in a magical realist anthology. Giant Sparrow in the United States developed it on Unreal Engine 4, Annapurna Interactive published it in 2017, and it took Best Game at the 2017 British Academy Games Awards.
