Dreaded Drafts is a physics-based puzzle platformer about a sticky note trying to reach his girlfriend across a board. Dying is part of the solution, because each death changes the level layout the player uses to get past obstacles. Walid Yousfi of the Algerian studio Xerise built it in 48 hours for the GM48 game jam in 2019, and it is on itch.io.
Justice Seeker: Unsafe Data is a detective adventure starring Axel Zakon, a former police detective turned private investigator. The police call him in to help with a homicide, and the unexplained reason he was chosen becomes part of the mystery. It is listed on Steam by Jana Games, the Algerian studio Jana Game Studios, whose website hosts the game's page.
Adventure of Gharsoon is a 2D puzzle platformer about Gharsoon, a rabbit travelling across the Arab world. His planting ability grows trees that the player uses to cross obstacles and solve puzzles, in a story about unity and friendship. It was made in GameMaker by Walid Yousfi of Xerise, a studio listed among Algeria's game developers, and is available on itch.io.
Our Legacy is a 3D exploration adventure in Unreal Engine that follows Jake as he learns what past generations handed down, travelling through different cultures, including a section in Egypt, with parkour and puzzle-platforming. Souhaib Benchaker made it in 17 days for a cultural heritage game jam, working with a voice actor and 2D artists. Kosake77 Studio is in Games Industry Africa's list of Algerian studios.
OverGun is a 2D pixel-art platform shooter whose hero carries a gun too big for him to handle. The player has to control the weapon and its recoil while working through a dungeon of enemies. Xerise, an Algerian studio, made it for the GMTK 2020 game jam with pixel art by Pixelhole, and it is a free Windows download on itch.io.
The Last Warrior: Spirit of Fire is a 3D open-world action RPG in which the player collects level items, fights enemies and beats bosses to reach the final stage, gaining a new ability in each level. It was built in Unity over six months. Its developer, Ringosoft (Souhil Sid, now publishing as DT Games), appears in Games Industry Africa's list of Algerian studios, and the game is a free download on itch.io.
The Blue: Village Chronicles is a fantasy adventure about saving a village from a water crisis. The player is a villager who explores forests, solves puzzles and restores the village's water supply, and the game carries a message about water conservation. It comes from DT Games, the itch.io account of the Algerian developer behind Ringosoft, and is available for Windows and Linux.
Tower Attack reverses tower defense: the player leads the invaders instead of building defences. You plan a route for a team of creatures with different abilities through tower-guarded paths, then launch the attack and adjust the plan when it fails. Walid Yousfi of the Algerian studio Xerise made it in GameMaker for the Game Maker's Toolkit Jam, with blueprint-style art, and it is a Windows download on itch.io.
Pre Dusk is a 2D action platformer in which the player is a small child exploring a dark world. Each level adds new skills and abilities, and the journey runs through varied environments with boss fights along the way. It was made by Okba Amrate, a developer listed in Games Industry Africa's report on Algeria's studios, and released on Steam in May 2024.
Shadowstalk is a top-down multiplayer stealth tactics game in which players are mythological figures summoned into a death game. Each character uses shadows and unique abilities to outwit rivals in real-time battles, aiming to be the last survivor. It is being developed in Unity by Jana Game Studios, an Algerian studio founded in 2014 by Seifeddine Wassim Haddar.
