Vietnamese Games Dominate Global Downloads
According to the GameGeek report, Vietnamese games achieved 4.9 billion downloads in 2025, equivalent to 9,300 downloads per minute. This places Vietnam as the second-largest global market for game downloads. Simulation, puzzle, and arcade titles led global download figures, accounting for nearly 11% of all downloads in these genres.
Growth of Vietnam's Gaming Ecosystem
The data highlights that simulation, puzzle, and arcade games accounted for 67% of Vietnamese game downloads, totaling 3.3 billion. This growth reflects the maturation of Vietnam's gaming industry, with 210 active game studios operating in 2025.
Challenges and Future Outlook
Despite growth, the industry faces challenges, including a decline in annual downloads from 5.4 billion in 2024 to 4.9 billion in 2025. Monetization models have evolved, with in-app purchases growing by 83% year-over-year, as 73% of studios shifted from ad-based revenue to in-app purchases or hybrid models.

The Vietnam Game Connect 2026 conference, scheduled for July 16, will showcase industry developments. The report also highlights milestones like Flappy Bird's impact on Vietnam's global production phase, alongside the pandemic's role in boosting mobile gaming in 2020 and 2021.
