American Truck Simulator brings the Truck Simulator series to a scaled-down United States, with American conventional semi-trucks and recognizable locations. The loop centers on taking cargo contracts and driving them to their destinations. Czech studio SCS Software developed it on the Prism3D engine and released it in February 2016 as a counterpart to Euro Truck Simulator 2, and it has sold over 6 million copies.
AMID EVIL is a retro-style first-person shooter with a dark fantasy setting and fast, action-heavy combat. Its look and feel have led many to call it a spiritual successor to the 1990s classics Heretic and Hexen. Amnesia: The Dark Descent is a survival horror adventure in which Daniel explores the grim Castle Brennenburg while trying to hold on to his sanity. And Yet It Moves is a puzzle platformer in which you can rotate the entire game world at will, turning walls into floors to steer your character through dangerous environments. Its levels are designed around that single idea and presented in a paper-collage visual style. Developed by the independent Austrian studio Broken Rules, it began in 2007 as a student project in computer science at the Vienna University of Technology and was released in April 2009.
Anomaly Collapse is a turn-based strategy roguelite developed by Chinese studio RocketPunch Games, with Spiral Up Games as publisher. It was released for Microsoft Windows in April 2024, with a Nintendo Switch port arriving in July 2025. The game combines turn-based strategy with the roguelite format, and Steam lists it as an indie strategy title for players who enjoy planning their moves.

Anthology of the Killer gathers nine short horror comedy games starring BB, a student in a city full of serial killers who hunts for spooky material for her zine. Each episode drops her into strange, dangerous encounters, mixing surreal humor with dread. The series is by Irish solo developer Stephen Gillmurphy, known as thecatamites, and won the Nuovo Award at the 2024 Independent Games Festival, where it was also up for the Seumas McNally Grand Prize.
Antichamber is a first-person puzzle platformer set in a space that breaks the normal rules of geometry. Corridors can lead somewhere different depending on which way you face, and many puzzles rely on structures that could not exist in ordinary three-dimensional space, with short messages offering hints and life advice. It was created by Australian developer Alexander Bruce, built on Unreal Engine 3, and released for Windows on Steam in January 2013.
APOX is a real-time strategy game set in a near-future, post-apocalyptic wasteland with a Mad Max flavour. Its store description pitches it as RTS play combined with tactics borrowed from first-person shooters. Indian studio BlueGiant Interactive developed and published it for Windows, releasing it on Steam in January 2011; the game runs on the Ogre3D engine and received a Metacritic score of 48.
ARAYA is a first-person horror adventure from MAD Virtual Reality Studio, a developer in Thailand, released for Windows in 2016. It takes place inside a Thai hospital, with the story told through the eyes of three different characters. Players explore various parts of the building to work out the truth behind the mysterious murder of a woman named Araya, whose case ties the perspectives together.
ARIDA: Backland's Awakening is an adventure with survival mechanics, originally known as Projeto Sertao during development. Players follow Cicera, a young woman from the countryside who must endure hunger and drought in the backlands of Brazil during the 19th century. It was developed by Brazilian studio Aoca Game Lab and released on Steam for Windows in August 2019.

Arizona Sunshine is a virtual reality first-person shooter about surviving a zombie outbreak, played on headsets such as the HTC Vive, Oculus Rift and Valve Index. It was developed and published by Vertigo Games in the Netherlands, with Jaywalkers Interactive also credited, and launched in December 2016. Armello is a digital board game that blends role-playing with turn-based strategy in a fantasy kingdom of animal clans. Up to four players each take control of a hero competing to become the next ruler, using dice rolls and cards drawn from a deck, so every move shapes how the match plays out. It was developed by League of Geeks in Australia with support from Screen Australia and Film Victoria, partly funded through Kickstarter, and released in 2015.
Arrog is a puzzle adventure set in a strange world drawn by hand in black and white, with occasional touches of colour. Players move through its surreal scenes and solve puzzles to progress, with the experience kept deliberately mysterious. It was developed by LEAP Game Studios of Peru together with Hermanos Magia, published by indienova, and released for Windows in July 2020.
Assetto Corsa, whose Italian name translates to Race Setup, is a sim racing game built around realistic driving along with deep customisation and mod support. Players take a wide range of cars onto tracks that include laser-scanned circuits, with new content arriving through updates. It was developed by Italian studio Kunos Simulazioni, spent time in Early Access from 2013, and was fully released in December 2014, earning a Metacritic score of 85.
Astrea: Six-Sided Oracles is a digital tabletop roguelike in which dice take the place that cards hold in deck-building games, earning it the label dicebuilder from PC Gamer. Its overall run structure resembles Slay the Spire, but the rules underneath work differently. Players guide heirs of the Six-Sided Oracles against a corruption spreading through a star system. Brazilian studio Little Leo Games released it on Windows in September 2023, and critics praised its art and design.
ASTRONEER drops players onto alien worlds as a spacesuited explorer whose job is to settle planets, gather raw materials and put up structures. Progress comes from travelling between planets and switching on their cores, with extras such as a new suit or visor handed out along the way. American studio System Era Softworks developed and published it with Unreal Engine 4, launching in early access in late 2016 and reaching full release in February 2019.
Asylum is an atmospheric horror adventure set inside the Hanwell Mental Institute, a fictional asylum laid out according to the historical Kirkbride plan. Players are free to explore the whole institute as its unsettling story unfolds, with the focus on mood and slow-building dread rather than action. It comes from Senscape, an independent developer in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and authored by Agustin Cordes, and was funded partly through a 2013 Kickstarter before finally releasing in March 2025.
Automation lets players found their own virtual car manufacturer and engineer the vehicles it sells. Detailed design tools cover both car bodies and engines, while business choices determine whether the company grows into a leading automaker or fades out. It is developed and published by Camshaft Software, based in New Zealand, and entered Steam in 2015 as a Windows title in Early Access.
Avencast: Rise of the Mage is a Windows action RPG that borrows heavily from brawlers. Spells are cast by chaining quick movement inputs with mouse clicks, though shortcuts can also be assigned, and recurring boss battles punctuate the journey. Riddles add a touch of classic adventure design. Austrian developer ClockStone packed in more than 50 spells and around 150 unique items, and the Steam release dates from 2010.
Awesomenauts is a multiplayer online battle arena that moves the genre into a side-on 2D platforming view, where rival teams of characters clash in competitive matches. It was created by Ronimo Games, a company from the Netherlands, and reached Windows in 2012. The PC version later became free-to-play with an in-game currency, went offline in 2023 after Ronimo went bankrupt, and was revived by Atari in 2025 as a paid game with matchmaking restored.
Axiom Verge 2 is a Metroidvania and the sequel to Axiom Verge. It follows billionaire Indra Chaudhari, who heads to Antarctica after a mysterious message suggests she may see her missing daughter again. American indie developer Thomas Happ Games made it, first releasing it in August 2021 on Switch, PlayStation 4 and the Epic Games Store before a Steam release in August 2022. Critics gave it generally favourable reviews.
AXYOS is an experimental multiplayer shooter that borrows elements from MOBA games. During each session players upgrade their character to strengthen their team and push toward victory, combining action with a layer of strategy. It was developed and published by Axyos Games, a studio based in Georgia, and released for Windows in August 2018.
Aztez pairs side-scrolling brawler combat with a turn-based strategy layer, set in the Aztec empire in the years before the Spanish invasion. Players fight their way through areas across the empire, switching between hands-on action and turn-based planning. It was made by Team Colorblind, a studio from the United States, and released on August 1, 2017 for Windows, macOS and Linux, where Steam files it under action and strategy.
Azure Striker Gunvolt is a side-scrolling 2D action platformer from Japanese studio Inti Creates, which also publishes it. Its combat echoes Mega Man Zero but adds a tagging system that lets Gunvolt mark foes and strike several at once. The story follows an Adept who quits his organization after a failed assassination and turns freelance to fight the Sumeragi Group. It debuted on the 3DS in 2014 and came to Windows in 2015, later spawning sequels and spin-offs.
