60 Seconds! opens with a nuclear bomb about to strike a suburban town and gives a family of four one frantic minute to grab whatever supplies they can. The rest of the game is about surviving on that haul and, eventually, escaping to somewhere safer. Polish studio Robot Gentleman developed and self-published it in May 2015; the project began as an experiment to test whether Unity suited the team, and a remastered edition arrived in 2019.
868-HACK is a compact roguelike in which you play a hacking program inside a computer network, grabbing as much data as you can before defence programs wipe you out. It began in the Seven-Day Roguelike challenge in 2013 and was made and published by Michael Brough of New Zealand. After iOS it reached Windows and Mac in 2015. At the Independent Games Festival it received a design nomination plus a Seumas McNally Grand Prize honorable mention.
Albert & Otto is a 2D puzzle platformer planned as four stand-alone episodes, the first of which is titled The Adventure Begins. Its art style takes cues from Tim Burton's early stop-motion films, and its story is set in Germany just before the Second World War. It was developed and published by the South African studio K Bros Games, with the first episode arriving in October 2015 for Windows and OS X.
Armello is a digital board game that blends role-playing with turn-based strategy in a fantasy kingdom of animal clans. Up to four players each take control of a hero competing to become the next ruler, using dice rolls and cards drawn from a deck, so every move shapes how the match plays out. It was developed by League of Geeks in Australia with support from Screen Australia and Film Victoria, partly funded through Kickstarter, and released in 2015.
Automation lets players found their own virtual car manufacturer and engineer the vehicles it sells. Detailed design tools cover both car bodies and engines, while business choices determine whether the company grows into a leading automaker or fades out. It is developed and published by Camshaft Software, based in New Zealand, and entered Steam in 2015 as a Windows title in Early Access.
Azure Striker Gunvolt is a side-scrolling 2D action platformer from Japanese studio Inti Creates, which also publishes it. Its combat echoes Mega Man Zero but adds a tagging system that lets Gunvolt mark foes and strike several at once. The story follows an Adept who quits his organization after a failed assassination and turns freelance to fight the Sumeragi Group. It debuted on the 3DS in 2014 and came to Windows in 2015, later spawning sequels and spin-offs.

Beyond Eyes is an adventure game from Tiger and Squid, a developer from the Netherlands, published by Team17. It was released on Steam in August 2015 for Windows, Mac and Linux. It sits among the smaller independent releases to come out of the Dutch indie scene during that period.
Blackhole is a puzzle-platform game from independent Czech company FiolaSoft Studio, built with GameMaker and first released for Windows in February 2015. The developers collaborated with Let's Players and YouTubers when writing the story and shaping its characters. A Complete Edition in 2016 bundled three DLCs, including Testing Lab and Challenge Vault, and was later ported to PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Broforce is a side-scrolling run-and-gun game in which players control a roster of bros modeled on famous action movie heroes such as John Rambo and Ellen Ripley. Missions revolve around freeing captured bros while tearing through environments that can be heavily destroyed. Its development began as a game jam entry in April 2012 by the South African studio Free Lives, went through early access, and was published by Devolver Digital in October 2015.
A remake of the 1985 title Chaos: The Battle of Wizards, Chaos Reborn is a tactical role-playing game played in turns. It expands the original with a role-playing meta layer and gear such as armour, staves and talismans that grant extra spells and abilities. Snapshot Games, based in Bulgaria, partly funded it on Kickstarter, opened early access in December 2014 and released the full game in October 2015.
Inspired by tokusatsu television, especially Super Sentai and Power Rangers, Chroma Squad plays as a tactical RPG that channels the feel of those costumed hero shows. It was developed by Brazilian team Behold Studios, financed through Kickstarter, and released in April 2015 for Windows, Mac OS X and Linux. Console and mobile versions arrived in the following years, including a Nintendo Switch edition in 2019.
Convoy is a roguelike with squad-based tactical combat, drawn in pixel art. Players drive an armoured semi-trailer truck across a desert planet's wastelands, hunting for parts of a downed spaceship, and the story advances through text scenarios where chosen responses can lead into battles. It was made by Convoy Games in the Netherlands and launched in April 2015, partly funded by a Kickstarter that raised over 22,000 euros.
Cradle is a first-person science-fiction adventure that explores the theme of transhumanism. Players investigate their surroundings in a desert setting, piecing together a story centred on the bond between the protagonist and a mechanical girl. It was developed by Flying Cafe for Semianimals, a studio based in Ukraine, built on the Unigine engine, and released in 2015 for Windows and Linux.
Deathtrap mixes tower defense with action RPG combat: a lone hero travels to a frontier realm inside an alternate dimension known as Ink to protect ancient strongholds from waves of invading monsters. Players set up traps, rotating blades, and other killing machines while fighting alongside them. Hungarian studio NeocoreGames released it in 2015, sharing its gothic setting with its Van Helsing games, and it carries a Metacritic score of 77.
Downwell is a vertically scrolling roguelike shooter and platformer with underground levels, drawn in a four-color palette that picks out gems, enemies and key items in red against black and white. Extra palettes can be unlocked to change those colors. It was made solely by Ojiro Fumoto under the Moppin name in Japan using GameMaker, and Devolver Digital published it in October 2015.
Fran Bow is a graphic adventure with a strong thread of psychological horror running through it. It was developed and produced by Killmonday Games, an independent studio from Sweden, and built with GameMaker. The game first arrived on PC in 2015, followed by mobile versions a year later and console ports in 2023. The facts at hand focus on its genre and release history rather than specific puzzles, so it suits players drawn to unsettling point-and-click stories.
Hand of Fate is an action RPG that combines deck building with roguelike dungeon runs. A mysterious Dealer lays out each randomized dungeon from cards on a tabletop, narrating events and asking for choices, and when a fight breaks out the game shifts into third-person brawling that rewards well-timed attacks, blocks and dodges. It was developed and published by the Australian studio Defiant Development, entering early access in 2014 and fully releasing in February 2015.
Hatred is an isometric shooter in which the player controls a misanthropic killer on a violent rampage against civilians. Polish studio Destructive Creations developed and self-published it in 2015 using Unreal Engine 4, pitching it as a response to trends such as political correctness and games as art. Its reveal trailer drew controversy, Valve briefly pulled it from Steam Greenlight before restoring it, and critics largely called the finished game repetitive.
Hotline Miami 2: Wrong Number is a top-down shooter that expands on the first game's story, covering events before, during and after Jacket's rampage through several different playable characters. Levels are still about eliminating every enemy using whatever works, and the Steam version includes a level editor for sharing custom stages. Swedish studio Dennaton Games originally planned it as DLC before it grew into a full sequel, released in March 2015.
I Am Bread casts the player as a slice of bread trying to reach the toaster. Movement relies on abilities like gripping onto surfaces, and levels become puzzles about climbing across rooms while dodging dangers such as knives, pets and dirty floors that spoil the bread. Bossa Studios, based in the United Kingdom, developed and released it in April 2015, and the humorous idea later continued in a follow-up, I Am Fish, in 2021.
In Verbis Virtus is a first-person fantasy adventure in which spells are cast by speaking their incantations aloud into a microphone. The voice-driven magic is used across a mix of action and puzzle sections. It was developed by Italian studio Indomitus Games with Unreal Engine 3, entered early access in May 2014 and was released on Steam for Windows in April 2015.
Drawing on the real Dyatlov Pass incident of February 1959, Kholat has players retrace the route of nine students who vanished on the mountain Kholat Syakhl, a name meaning Dead Mountain in the Mansi language. It is a survival horror experience built in Unreal Engine 4 by Polish studio IMGN.PRO, which also published it. The Windows version launched in June 2015, with a Nintendo Switch release following in 2020.
Knights of Pen & Paper 2 is a role-playing game from Kyy Games, a studio based in Finland, published by Paradox Interactive as a follow-up to the original Knights of Pen & Paper. After launching on iOS and Android in May 2015, it reached Windows, OS X and Linux via Steam that October. Critics liked its art and the improvements to gameplay and story, but felt it stayed too close to the first game while being shorter and easier.
Lakeview Cabin Collection is a horror game created and self-published by Finnish developer Roope Tamminen. It follows on from his earlier free Flash title, Lakeview Cabin, released in 2013, expanding that project into a fuller commercial release. After a Steam Greenlight campaign, the collection arrived on Steam, Humble Bundle and itch.io in March 2015. Console versions for PlayStation and Xbox followed in July 2024.
