Depth is an asymmetrical multiplayer shooter played from a first-person view beneath the waves. One side controls divers searching for treasure, while the other side plays as sharks hunting them down. It comes from New Zealand, was built with Unreal Engine 3 and launched on Windows in 2014. The contrast between treasure-seeking humans and predators of the deep gives each match two very different ways to play.

6180 the moon is a short puzzle platformer in which the player guides the Moon on a search for the missing Sun, whose absence has left Earth stuck in endless night. It was made by South Korean developer Turtle Cream together with Miara Sung, and first appeared on Windows in March 2013 through an Indie Royale bundle. The Steam release followed in 2014 on Windows, macOS and Linux, with PokPoong Games also credited on the store page.
Akane the Kunoichi is a platformer carrying action and casual tags on Steam. It was made by Haruneko, an independent studio in Italy, using Microsoft XNA. The game first appeared in 2011 on the Xbox Live Indie Games service for Xbox 360, and was later ported as a budget release to Windows, Windows Phone 7 and iOS, reaching Steam in May 2014.
Alpha Kimori 1 opens an episodic trilogy of sprite-based role-playing games drawn in an anime-influenced style. It pairs a story with philosophical ambitions and a mix of science fiction and fantasy with classic turn-based battles in the Japanese RPG tradition. The series is an independent project by Sherman Chin and his Malaysian studio Sherman3D, built with the RPG Maker engine, and this episode came to Windows on Steam in 2014.
Assetto Corsa, whose Italian name translates to Race Setup, is a sim racing game built around realistic driving along with deep customisation and mod support. Players take a wide range of cars onto tracks that include laser-scanned circuits, with new content arriving through updates. Shining Rock Software, a studio from the United States, developed and released it for Windows in February 2014. Reviewers liked its graphics and early difficulty but felt feedback on player actions was lacking, and that survival mattered less as towns grew.
BattleBlock Theater is a platform game from The Behemoth, the American studio behind Alien Hominid and Castle Crashers, making it the team's third release. It first came out on Xbox Live Arcade in April 2013 with Microsoft Studios as publisher, and reached Steam for Windows and Mac in 2014. Steam files it under action, adventure and casual play, and a quality-of-life update along with future console versions was announced in July 2024.
Cinders retells the Cinderella story in the form of a visual novel. Polish indie studio MoaCube developed and published it, debuting it on PC and Mac in 2012; Nintendo Switch received it in 2019, while PlayStation 4 and Xbox One editions came in 2020. The game was built with GameMaker and is listed on Steam as an adventure title with an indie tag.
Stormling Studios, based in Turkey, made this first-person horror adventure in 3D, shaped by the writing of H. P. Lovecraft and running on the CPAGE engine. As police detective Howard E. Loreid, the player investigates the killing of an occult-linked rich man in the fictional town of Wellsmoth, with a vanished private investigator as the prime suspect. Lucid dreams and paranormal events blur the line between reality and hallucination.
Darkwind: War on Wheels is an online multiplayer game of armed cars, where races and road battles are resolved in turns rather than in real time. Its post-apocalyptic world draws on the Car Wars tabletop game and the Mad Max films while keeping a setting of its own. Created by Irish developer Sam Redfern under Psychic Software, it opened to players in 2007 and has kept receiving updates, arriving on Steam as a free-to-play release in 2014.

Dead State: Reanimated is a turn-based survival role-playing game set during a zombie apocalypse. Divinity: Original Sin is a role-playing game and the fourth main entry in the Divinity series, set as a prequel to Divine Divinity. Elliot Quest is a side-scrolling action-adventure platformer that takes after Metroid, Zelda II and the second Castlevania. Following those classics, it mixes combat, platforming and exploration in the style associated with Metroidvanias. It was developed by Mexican studio Ansimuz Games and published by PlayEveryWare, arriving on Windows in 2014, followed by a Wii U version in 2015 and releases on more platforms later on.
Fenix Rage is a platform game from Costa Rican developer Green Lava Studios, released for Windows in 2014 and built with GameMaker. It has drawn comparisons to a blend of Super Meat Boy and Flappy Bird, and the team cited Sonic the Hedgehog and the 1990s cartoon SWAT Kats as inspirations. Console versions for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One arrived in 2016 under the new name Fenix Furia.
Five Nights at Freddy's places players in the security office of a family pizzeria as night guard Mike Schmidt. Watching security cameras and shutting steel doors keeps roaming animatronics at bay, but every action drains a limited power supply, and running out leaves the office defenceless. Scott Cawthon, a solo developer in the United States, made it in six months with Clickteam Fusion 2.5 and released it in 2014, launching a wider media franchise.
Geometry Dash is a rhythm-driven action game where players steer a simple icon through obstacle-filled stages timed to music. Most of its official levels scroll automatically, while a few use free platforming, and a built-in editor lets the community build, share and play custom stages. Swedish creator Robert Topala made it under his company RobTop Games using Cocos2d-x; it launched on mobile in 2013 and reached Steam in December 2014.
Goat Simulator is a comedic sandbox game in which the player controls a goat and tries to cause as much chaos as possible across an open map, without any larger objective. Its developer likens the flow to skateboarding games, and the team deliberately kept many harmless bugs for their comic value. Swedish studio Coffee Stain Studios grew it from a joke prototype made at an internal game jam, released it in 2014 and built it in Unreal Engine 3.
Gods Will Be Watching is a point-and-click adventure pitched as a thriller, dropping the player into a series of tense scenarios and asking them to avert a crisis in each. Its core loop revolves around juggling scarce resources against the clock. Spanish studio Deconstructeam built it in GameMaker, and Devolver Digital published it in July 2014 for Windows, macOS and Linux, with an iOS port arriving in December 2015.
Guns and Robots is a free-to-play online shooter viewed from a third-person camera, with a bright cartoon look. Its main hook is assembling your own robot fighter from parts before heading into team-based matches in open arenas. Masthead Studios, based in Bulgaria, developed it for Windows, and it launched in 2014. Steam also tags it as a massively multiplayer RPG.
Heavy Bullets is a first-person shooter that follows roguelike rules, combining gunplay from a first-person view with the structure of a roguelike. It was made by Terri Vellmann, an independent developer based in Brazil, with Doseone also listed as a developer on its store page. Devolver Digital published it for Windows, OS X and Linux in September 2014.
J.U.L.I.A. Among the Stars is a 2014 science fiction adventure game from Czech studio CBE Software, remaking the earlier J.U.L.I.A. with improved graphics, altered gameplay and a broader story. The studio developed and published it itself, releasing it on Windows, macOS and Linux in September 2014, and it holds a Metacritic score of 71.
Legend of Grimrock II, an action role-playing game, was developed and self-published by Almost Human, a studio from Finland, and the sequel to 2012's Legend of Grimrock. It released for Windows in October 2014, with an OS X version following in March 2015. Its genre listing classes it as a dungeon crawl, placing the focus on exploring dungeons in the style of its predecessor, and Steam lists it under adventure and RPG.
