Jalopy is a driving and vehicle simulation in which the player and an uncle assemble a small car called the Laika, modelled on the Trabant 601, piece by piece. The pair then set off on a long road trip from East Berlin toward Turkey, keeping the fragile machine running along the way. It was developed by MinskWorks in the United Kingdom and published by Excalibur Games, releasing on Steam in 2018.
Kapital: Sparks of Revolution is an economic simulation about class conflict. You serve as mayor of a capital city in a European country gripped by crisis, balancing policy against growing social unrest and deciding what compromises are worth making to avoid collapse. Steam lists it under simulation and strategy. It was developed by Lapovich Team from Belarus and released by Fulqrum Publishing in April 2022.
Little Witch in the Woods is a life simulation game about Ellie, a trainee witch living in a forest with a talking hat called Virgil. She can fish and brew potions, and she finishes her training by helping villagers nearby and meeting other witches. It was developed and published by the South Korean studio Sunny Side Up, launched in early access in 2022, and reached its full version for Windows in September 2025.
Mars First Logistics is a transport simulation about building your own rovers and other vehicles to carry odd cargo across the surface of Mars. Set in a science fiction future, your deliveries help support the colonization of the planet, and the game can be played solo or cooperatively with up to three players. It was developed by Shape Shop, a studio based in Melbourne, Australia, and left early access for a full release in September 2025.
Medieval Engineers is a voxel-based sandbox game from Czech developer Keen Software House. It takes place on an unnamed, waterless Earth-like planetoid whose terrain players can explore, mine, reshape and deform as they work. Blending action, simulation and strategy elements according to its store genres, it entered Steam early access in February 2015 and reached its full release in March 2020.
Merchant of the Skies is a simulation game that mixes the building-up of a tycoon title with the numbers of an economic sim. Its Steam tags also point to strategy and role-playing elements alongside the trading focus. It was created by Latvian developer Coldwild Games, which published it together with AbsoDev, and it came out in 2020. The available sources do not go further into its systems, but it sits firmly in the business management side of indie games.
Mountain is an unusual simulation game in which you have very little control: your only real input comes at the start, when you are asked to draw some objects. Beyond that the experience is largely passive, and the game is meant to run in the background while you use other programs. Moving Out 2 is a cooperative simulation game and a sequel to Moving Out. Players work together to carry objects through a series of levels without crashing into obstacles, in a mix that draws on strategy, puzzle and party game ideas. It was developed by SMG Studio from Australia together with DevM Games, published by Team17, and released in 2023 for PC and a range of consoles.
My Summer Car is a simulation game about vehicles, developed and self-published by Amistech Games, a studio based in Finland. It entered Steam early access on 24 October 2016 and left early access with its full release on 8 January 2025, and it is available on Windows. Its genre listings combine simulation with racing and survival elements, and it is categorised on Steam as an indie title.
Orwell: Keeping an Eye On You is an episodic simulation game that puts you in the seat of a government operative. Your job is to sift through surveillance material and personal data to identify people who might threaten national security, deciding what information to pass on. It was created by the indie developer Osmotic Studios in Germany and published by Daedalic Entertainment, with its release on Windows, macOS and Linux in 2016.
Overcooked is a cooking sim from UK studio Ghost Town Games, published by Team17 and released in August 2016. Per Aspera is a city-building simulation about turning Mars into a world humans can live on. You play as AMI, an artificial intelligence tasked with terraforming the red planet so that colonists can eventually settle there, balancing construction and planetary change as a strategy challenge. It was made by the Argentine studio Tlön Industries, published by Raw Fury, and released for Windows in December 2020.
Planet Nomads is a 2019 science fiction sandbox game from Czech studio Craneballs. Its store listing combines the action, adventure and simulation genres, framing it as an open-ended sandbox with a sci-fi theme rather than a linear campaign. RimWorld is a science fiction construction and management simulation in which AI storytellers steer events, so each colony becomes a generated narrative rather than a pure test of skill. It was designed by Canadian developer Tynan Sylvester, with Ludeon Studios as publisher, and began as a Kickstarter-backed early access project in 2013 under the name Eclipse Colony. Satisfactory is a first-person factory-building simulation in which a pioneer lands on an alien world and turns its resources into ever larger production lines. Early work centres on building a space elevator, and shipping parts through it to the FICSIT corporation unlocks new tiers of machines and technology. Swedish studio Coffee Stain Studios built it in Unreal Engine 4, ran it in early access from 2019 and launched the full release in 2024, where it holds a Metacritic score of 91.
