Felvidek is a role-playing game that plays much like a classic JRPG, set in a low-fantasy, alternate-history take on medieval Slovakia in the region of Felvidék. Its visuals are realistic yet low-resolution, heavily dithered and monochrome, echoing fifth-generation console hardware. The game was made in RPG Maker MV by Slovak developers Jozef Pavelka and Vlado Ganaj, published by Tutto Passa, and released for Windows in March 2024.
Ace Maddox, a developer based in Slovakia, built Flying Tigers: Shadows Over China as an aerial combat game, and released it on Windows in May 2017. It draws on the history of the Flying Tigers, the volunteer pilots who fought for China against Japan during World War II. Players fly in first- or third-person view through a mission-based single-player campaign, and multiplayer supports up to 16 people in co-op and competitive modes.
Gomo is an adventure played in the point-and-click tradition, made by the Slovak company Fishcow Studio. Available descriptions say little beyond its genre, so the specifics of its story and puzzles are left for players to discover. It was published by Daedalic Entertainment and released on Steam in December 2013 for Windows and Mac, and it holds a Metacritic score of 50.
Granny 3 is an adventure game from DVloper, a developer based in Slovakia, released on Steam for Windows in 2021. The goal is to get away from Granny and Grandpa, and the player is given five days in which to manage it. The store listing offers little detail beyond that premise, which frames the game as a race against time to break free from the two antagonists before the days run out.
The House of Da Vinci is a 3D puzzle adventure from Blue Brain Games, an independent studio in Slovakia, first released in 2017. Players work through intricate mechanical contraptions, hunt for hidden objects and escape locked rooms while searching for their missing master. The fictional story takes place during the Renaissance, and the game went on to receive three follow-ups from the same studio, including a VR entry.
The House of Da Vinci 2 is a 3D puzzle adventure from Blue Brain Games, a studio in Slovakia, released in 2020. Players take the role of an apprentice to Leonardo da Vinci, solving handcrafted mechanical puzzles and uncovering hidden secrets across Italian Renaissance settings. Time travel is also part of the design, letting the player affect the environment around them as they work through each location.
The House of Da Vinci 3 concludes the puzzle adventure trilogy from Blue Brain Games, a studio based in Slovakia, and was released in December 2022. As in earlier entries, progress comes from solving a large number of fresh puzzles and brain teasers. Players also explore new, strikingly detailed locations with mysteries to uncover, continuing the series' puzzle-first approach on Windows and Mac.
Vaporum is a grid-based dungeon crawler from Fatbot Games, a studio in Slovakia, released in 2017 and modeled on old-school entries in the genre. It is set in an original steampunk world, where the hero finds himself stranded before a colossal tower rising from the middle of an ocean. Exploring the tower means uncovering what the place is, what happened inside it and who the protagonist really is.
